My kids have had a great experience with their music lessons. The teachers are enthusiastic and very friendly, always. There are a wide variety of teachers with different musical styles and abilities. I recommend Tampa Fine Art’s Academy for your kids or yourself.

What are your teachers like?

At Tampa Fine Arts Academy, we believe in helping students develop confidence that will help them in many areas of life as a result of learning music. By being patient, encouraging, compassionate and personable, we help students feel comfortable in mastering new piano and keyboard skills. We tailor the lessons here in Wesley Chapel to appropriately challenge our students to learn new things and continually make progress in playing the piano.

What can I learn from taking piano lessons with Tampa Fine Arts Academy?

Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn a classical sonatina by Beethoven, rock chords from Billy Joel or Elton John, or popular sheet music such as All of Me from John Legend, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. You can learn how to play songs from famous movie soundtracks on piano such as the Theme from Star Wars, A River Flows in You, or How Far I'll Go. We also teach songs from games such as the Pokémon Theme or Super Mario Bros. Our piano teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for the piano with you.

What will I need when starting piano lessons at Tampa Fine Arts Academy?

It is ideal if you do have a piano at home before starting lessons, but you can start lessons at our facility here in Wesley Chapel with our piano teachers by using an electric keyboard to practice on. Most of our students rent or buy small electric keyboards from us to practice on at home. We recommend a keyboard that has regular sized keys and a touch sensitive response. A touch sensitive keyboard means if you press a key harder it will play louder and if you press a key softer it will play quieter.

All our students receive a special VIP discount when purchasing books and instruments from Tampa Fine Arts Academy. For more details, don't hesitate to contact us.

If you are looking for an acoustic piano but don't want to spend too much money, Craigslist is a good resource and you can find a piano for around $200. It can be expensive to pay a piano mover (around $300), but worth it unless you have strong men, moving straps and a truck! (Which can be done!)

To have the best success, look for the following things in a keyboard:

1. 88 keys is ideal. However 61 or 76 keys is fine in the beginning stages of learning.

2. Sustain Pedal (when you hold it down, the sound rings out)

3. Touch sensitive keys (when you play harder, it sounds louder; when you play softly, it sounds quieter)

MORE DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT OUR PIANO LESSONS

WHAT IS YOUR METHOD OF TEACHING?

Because our focus and expertise is in private music instruction, we tailor our piano lessons to match each student's particular needs and desires. A five year old child who has never played an instrument before will have different goals than a teenager who has been playing classical sonatas for quite some time; or an adult who wants to plunk out simple chords to Elton John.

At Tampa Fine Arts Academy, the teacher and student work together to develop the perfect lesson plan to get you to where you want to be. We enjoy teaching students of all levels and abilities.

WHAT STYLES OF MUSIC DO YOU OFFER?

It's up to you! Classical style is the most common and provides an excellent baseline for being able to play other styles. However, we able to teach other styles such as pop, rock, R&B, and jazz. In the end, it's really about helping our students play their favorite type of music in the way they want to learn it.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS?

Our piano instructors are highly qualified, all have university training and experience teaching other students. They also have real-world performing experience and LOVE what they do. We look to hire well-rounded teachers who are more than just musicians because all the talent in the world does not help if it can't be conveyed to the student.

We are extremely selective on who we hire as music teachers. We only hire people who share our high standards and truly enjoy showing others how to play music. Most importantly, we adapt our instruction method to match the learning style of each individual student. Many of our teachers have learned from highly regarded professors and people who have inspired them to share their passion and love of music with others. Their knowledge, ability, and experience coupled with their friendly personalities, patience, and ability to communicate is what truly sets our instructors apart from any other music school in the Tampa / Wesley Chapel area.

HOW MANY LESSONS WILL I NEED?

It really depends on what level you want to achieve as well as how much effort a student is willing to put forward. Our goal is to get people playing simple songs proficiently within a couple of months. Most of our students take lessons on a long term basis because they want to be constantly improving and they find the lessons enjoyable.

HOW CAN I HELP MY CHILD AT HOME IF I DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY PIANO?

Our teachers communicate with their students and parents at the end of each lesson to let them know how they can help their child practice. We also provide the option where parents can sit in on their child's lessons to get familiar with what the instructor is doing and see how they can help their child practice at home.
